Making Sunday School Cool Again
Psalm 100

Make a joyful noise to the LORD, all the earth! Serve the LORD with gladness! Come into his presence with singing! Know that the LORD, he is God! It is he whomade us, and we are his; we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture. Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise! Give thanks to him; bless his name! For the LORD is good; his steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to all generations.

What to expect

Worship is our focus

We gather as a congregation for the expressed purpose to lift and exalt our God and Savior, Jesus Christ, through the power of the Holy Spirit. "Oh, magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt his name together" (Psalm 34:3)! Once our corporate service starts, we make every effort to bring a focus to the great name of our holy God, who is worthy of all our praises.

Dress standards

Some folks wear ties and dresses, others wear polo shirts and khaki pants. Some wear jeans. We do not have an official standard of dress. We want folks to feel comfortable while at the same time exhibiting respect, dignity, and modesty in clothing choices.

Music is blended

Worship music takes many forms, and the Bible instructs us to use these different forms to honor the Lord in our congregation: "Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly, teaching and admonishing one another in all wisdom, singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, with thankfulness in your hearts to God" (Colossians 3:16).

At RMLBC, we strive to bring into our services a variety of songs, hymns, and spiritual songs, all consistent with the teachings of the Bible. We also pray that our congregation would be patient and loving during music they do not prefer, rejoicing that others are being moved by a music style they favor. This loving preference is an act of worship in itself.

A typical service

Our services usual last no more than 90 minutes. Included are times for announcements, prayer, affirmations of our faith, an opportunity to worship through giving, and singing. All of these elements are designed to help us focus on the preaching of the Word of God.

Childcare services

As a church, we desire to help train your children and youth in the ways of the Lord. "And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children" (Deuteronomy 6:6-7). We encourage parents to sit with their children during the first part of the service. Just before the preaching, children (ages birth - 3rd grade) will be moved to the gym for a lesson provided on their learning level. This allows parents the opportunity to worship together with their children through music, prayer, and giving, while also receiving the message without distraction. This also allows the children a chance to watch their parents praise God in the service, but then receive a message directed at them.

Special needs

If you have a disability or special need which requires assistance during a worship service, please contact our office prior to the worship service so that we might better accomodate your visit. We will do all we can serve you.
